Can't connect to PCs on network running XP nor Vista?

Hi.

I am having alot of trouble connecting to other pcs on my home network. My pc is running Windows 7, i have no problems connecting to our wireless network, and no problem connecting to the internet, but i can't connect nor ping either of the other pcs on our home network. One is running XP and one Vista. i've disabled all firewalls, but to no avail? any suggestions?

Have you set the sharing options for different network profiles?, to be found via control panel > network and internet > network and sharing centre > advanced sharing settings.

vista and 7 must configure file sharing manually and set network permissiones

How do you go about doing that xaira? i've turned off homegroups, but not sure what to do after that?
