Hi all. I recently switched Internet provider. They sent a new router and we were able to connect all devices to the router. We were also able to connect our old Netgear range extender to the router, but no devices would connect to the extended network.

I've just bought a new, better range extender, to rule out the possibility of a compatibility issue, but I'm having the same problem. It communicates with the router no problem, and yet no devices will connect to the extended network.

The password is 100% correct.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Does your Netgear extender have an ethernet port? Have you tried connecting to it to see if you have internet connectivity?
Do you know the model number of the Netgear so that we can look at a user's manual ?

Hi kanewolf. Yes, I connected the Netgear up via ethernet. It was still receiving a strong signal from the router. The 'device connected' light on it goes green whilst I'm trying to connect my PC to the extended network, but then the green light disappears a few seconds later once the error message pops up on my PC saying 'can't connect to this network'. We've tried connecting on two PCs, a laptop and a mobile phone. They all connect to the router fine, but not to either of the range extenders.

The Netgear is an AC1200 EX6150.
The new range is extender is a TP-Link AX3000 RE700X.

What is the model of your new ISP router?

The defaults on the new ISP router are probably different. It could be channel width or the actual channel used. I would start by being simple. Turn off the "auto" settings in the ISP router. Set your 2.4Ghz to channel 1, 6, 11 and channel width to 20Mhz. Set your 5Ghz to a channel less than 50 and channel width to 40Mhz.
Disable PMF (protected management frames), use WPA2. These are the most compatible settings. These are NOT the highest WIFI bandwidth settings.

Your Netgear has a V1 and a V2 model. Verify that you have the latest firmware loaded on the unit but put verity the version you have.
