My uncle performed an upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10 Home. He wanted Pro though, so I purchased a Pro upgrade from the Microsoft Store. After upgrading, he is unable to make a recovery disk. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Solution
I apologise if my comment came off like that. It was NOT meant to be a troll.

But, that error msg does indicate a potential issue with the actual OS install. Not being able to complete that function may indicate some parts of it are not quite right.
Which may happen after an in place Upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10.

I suggest creating a Win 10 Pro USB install, booting from that, and going through the install.
It will give you the option to keep all your personal files and applications.

The default Windows 10 recovery disk option.
This screen?
Which option are you selecting?

I am not sure if that answer is intended to troll or is intended to be one of those "Can't you read, you idiot?" comments.

Yes, I can read. I am not a moron. I can see it says "some files are missing". What I am trying to get at is that I do not know how to FIX this problem. I have run SFC, attempted to repair the system image using DISM, and have gotten no further. I am just looking for some assistance in figuring out how to address this.

Well, that is frustrating and disappointing, but it makes sense. I get it. I will call M$ and see what the potential for getting a Clean copy without having to buy another is, since I already paid for the Upgrade and it did not work. Grr...

Thank you VERY much.

Install and enter license key, when asked.

You could install and skip step, where license key is asked. It should activate automatically once you connect to internet. Problem is, if you had Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro installed on this pc previously, then you may not get any control over, which version gets installed/activated.

IF the current system is Activated, you do NOT need to purchase another Win 10 license.

Go through the install, and when it asks for the license, skip that section.
