[SOLVED] can't custom resolution because exceeds bandwidth capacity

I have a samsung notebook odyssey GTX 1050 and I bought a new monitor, it supports 1920x1080 144hz, but I can just set it to 1920x1080 120hz.

I tried making a custom resolution for 144hz since the monitor supports it and I received the message "the custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity".

The monitor supports 1920x1080 144hz via hdmi and that's what I'm using since the notebook just has 1 hdmi port, the cable came with the monitor and is labeled high speed, the notebook HDMI port can be 1.4 or 2.0.

btw, display settings are not showing in the nvidia control panel, I have to use intel graphic settings to change resolution and create a custom resolution.

So I guess the problem is related to igpu, gpu or the HDMI.

Thanks in advance.

Solution
your notebook says it supports hdmi 2.0
try different cable
check your monitor specs if u using correct HDMI input, there could be multiple HDMI inputs, while only 1 of them would be 2.0 compatible
also check monitor osd settings if there is hdmi 2.0 setting
