Can't delete mp4 file in external HDD. (I have no problem deleting other mp4 files on my external HDDS. My external HDDs are in a docking station.)
I tried a Clean Boot (disabled all MS Services) and still couldn't delete the mp4.

I give credit to another forum member who pointed out this solution.

Use 7-zip to compress the file and while your compressing 7-zip will ask you if you want to delete the original file while zipping . Delete it and finish the zip.

Now just delete the 7-zipped file now.

First off, try doing a refresh (f5) in explorer in whatever directory the file is in just to ensure it's still there; sometimes explorer can get confused.

Failing that, the next thing to try would be to open any program that can access the file explorer as an Admin; that should allow you to force-delete the file. Failing that, you can use an Admin Command Prompt/Powershell.

To solve the problem of deleting an MP4 file on an external hard drive, check the permissions of the file, close the applications that may be using it, try to delete it via command prompt, use a file unlocking tool, run a chkdsk to check the integrity of the disk, restart in safe mode to delete it, or try on another computer.
