For a while now my C: drive (250GB) has been full but I wasn't able to figure out why all the space was used up. I've now discovered the culprit: the hidden folder $sysreset is taking up a whopping 52.5GB!

The thing is, when I click to delete it, it asks for administrator permission, and I give it. Then it discovers all the files and promptly tells me that I need to ask my administrator for permission in order to delete. I get to try again which does the same thing or cancel.

I get the same results when opening File Explorer with permissions.

Windows doesn't see any restore points with Backup & Restore, and I've even turned System Restore off for the drive and I still can't get the authority to delete this folder.

Any suggestions?

Tried that already too. None of the checkboxes in Disk Cleanup will get rid of it and More Options> System Restore and Shadow Copies > Clean up doesn't either. Not sure if that's just because it won't or because it's considered the "most recent restore point" which is beyond the scope of the cleanup operation.
