I can not disable my onboard graphics to install a radeon hd 7750. my onboard graphics is a nvidia geforce 6150SE. On my bios it has only one thing that i could change and i guess use my video card BUT its greyed out and not selectable.

Top tip.. DONT tell us what motherboard you have.. that would make it too easy for us to help... idiot!!

At a guess - perhaps it will not make that option available until it detects a graphics card in the slot...
Or (more likely).. you don't know what you are doing and are looking at the wrong option.

Cheers

Well i have a acer X1420g and if this helps i have a bios version P01-B1 ;-; i know im an idiot but i need help. And the graphics card is in there right now. and when i switch back to my old one It wont even switch to that.

Please tell us your motherboard model, there's always an option in the bios to select which device to set as your primary graphics device.

EDIT: Damn you posted, and Google is a dog.

Right, enter bios -> advanced chipset features -> Primary Video (this should be set to auto, leave it alone and install your card, once installed the onboard should be disabled and it will default to your new card as the primary graphics card)

quick look at manual -
in "advance chipset" options there seems to be a "Primary Video" option - you checked that?
and I guess you looking at the "Integrated peripherals" section - that has a "onboard graphics controller" option - that is grey.
Also - check with Acer to see if there is a BIOS update.. make sure you have latest

HTH
Cheers

There are no options like that in there. there are only AMD cool and quite, AMD-V Memory hole Size, and UMA frame buffer size.

Well its not doing that.

So have you checked you have the latest BIOS? if that option missing - may be I was looking at old documentation.. or you got old BIOS and this feature added in newer..
I don't know.. (and right now, I don't care.. you need to show some initiative and work it through).

Cheers

So apperently im sad and i do not have enough power to use the video card. only by like ~20 watts so im going to buy a new case and power supply. thank you guys for the help and im retarded 😀

Must confess - I am slightly surprised it not working at all.. esp if you just 20 watts short.
I would expect it to fire up.. but give you problems as soon as you put it under load, when it starts to pull more power.

Do post back and let us know how it turns out.
Cheers

Well im a poor fuck... aka im 16 and a NEET. So no income. And minus well save up for a SSD and get a new case and power supply to go with it. So it will take a while 😛 And again thanks for the help.
