Hello everyone. I would like to thank everyone in advance. Here is the issue, I've been working on a pc that is having trouble staying logged in to world of Warcraft, or atleast that was the beginning to all this. After lookin around could see he was getting direct x issues so true reinstalling the GeForce drivers and both direct x 9 and 11 (9 was the one who got the error tho) but it didn't help. Reinstalled windows 7 home premium that didn't help either. I had been testing components the best I can. Here is the system tho

Athlon II x4 645 (3.1ghz one)
4gb ddr3 1333mhz
Gigabyte m68mt-s2p rev 1.0 (can't get the Octo cores)
550w golden something replaced it with a cooler master elite vs 550w
1tb hard drive
Nvidia GeForce gts450
Generic NEC USB 3.0 card

I researched the psu to find that the innards provide 300 watts at best when I replaced it. The pc can now game for longer but still gets kicked off due to Internet connection failing (even tho I have tryed a separate PCI wifi card). I have this terrible feeling that the old psu shorted the motherboard PCI express controller when trying to provide over 300 watts. Resulting in the lanes being shut down after prolonged use causing direct x issues for my graphics and connection loss for internal Ethernet and wifi card. Usb card could just be bad but was barely able to go faster than usb 2.0 but that could be just a terrible card. What do u guys think. Can provide more info just at work at the moment and doing this over my phone. Thanks a whole bunch.

Hey sorry! Left work after my last post and have just been super busy. tbh, that sounds like the best and only option. with the amount of re-installs and other hardware changes you have done.. dont think it could be much else other than the mobo got toasted. Sorry again and good luck. :)
Just adding some information in case it helps. I have come to the conclusions I have after realizing after many reinstalls of Windows that my updates were most likely failing due to the Internet drops without my knowing, fitting in the wifi card should of remedied that situation but it also is behaving te same way (figures so cause the battle.net program which is trying to download wow consistently stops due to no connection only way to fix is to reboot every 20-45 mins, this is with either wired or wifi connection. I'm just trying to figure out if I need to let my buddy know if we need to replace the motherboard, I don't wanna have him spend Ben more money on something that may not be the issue at all. Again thanks in advance 😀.

another thing, have you reset his wireless modem/router.. i find that 90% of the time i have issues a good ol fashion reset helps. again just some simple things before we get to replacing mobos 😛

I had tryed my usb wifi stick it's either its damaged or it won't keep a connection either I'll try it on my own pc (everything is working correctly including my pc (the wifi card was pulled from my PC so now I'm wired in). I'll try resetting my router when I get home from work, but this issue happens at my buddies house and my house, doesn't matter the location which leads me to his system is the problem... Somewhere. If the usb stick doesn't work and the reseting what else do u propose? I'll be getting home in a few hours (~10pm gmt -8) I'll be able to post the results then :).

Ok so I was right my usb stick is messed up it won't work I did reset the modem tho and it didn't help 🙁. How can I test the connection also I ended up finishing the instalation of world of Warcraft should I just uninstall and do it again so I have that download manager again that keeps showing the evident issue. I can browse the web alright, I get a lot of page errors but refreshing eventually gets me to where I want to go, tho Chrome enjoys aww snapping a bit too often 😛.

Still having issues going to box it up and give it back an told him to start saving for a new motherboard can't figure it out. 100% I know my connection at my house is good every other pc/Mac/phone/cable box they all work and I've tryed doing this when I had most of the bandwidth (everyone was in bed).

No prob at all I totally get it off enough I thought his old psu caused the damage with a bit too much "dirty power" but he had informed me yesterday that this pc has been doing the wierd connection issues since day one... I think his mobo was a bad sheep 🙁 thanks for your help I mostly wanted either a solution or confirmation. If anyone else wants to confirm or give me a suggestion to try out before this Friday afternoonish by all means I will give it a try. Thanks a bunch guys

PC has been given back the new psu seems to have solved the Random crashing and rebooting but the game client still crashes. He has agreed with me that just building a new pc over a new motherboard an transferring as many components over as possible. I'll prob make a most for advice an suggestions once he had saved a couple hundred bucks (Canada everything is more ex gtx960 for 200 is more like 270 🙁). Been trying to figure out if staing amd and move the 645 athlon over and upgrade to a 8320/50 later but I nver much enjoyed the about of power amd like munch on. But an Intel build will require a new cpu tho 220ish for a locked i5 and maybe a cheap b85 mobo might be good anyways I'll post the details in a new thread some day in the future. Thanks again sometimes just conversing with another is all that is needed to come to a confident conclusio .
