I've recently come across a nasty virus, which included a browser hijacker. It seems to affect multiple browsers, as the same homepage appears in firefox, as well as google chrome. Reinstalling firefox didn't help.
I've run AVG, Malwarebytes and hitmanpro, and none of them have managed to find this thing. It's not in the addons folder, it's not in add or remove programs list, i am completely out of ideas. Every other part of the virus has seemingly been removed, except this. Someone went through a lot of trouble to make sure that i see "funny collection" as my homepage on every browser.
As far as i can tell my options are to either go through every single one of my proccesses indivudually, and weed out whatever's causing this, or just go for a clean install.
I've read that the hijackthis log could help, so if anyone knowledgeable could maybe take a look at it, that would be great. http://pastebin.com/BNrHwjPB
I usually never go out and ask for help on sites like this, but i am completely stumped by this, i would be really, really grateful for whoever can help me with this.

Solution
Get adwcleaner. Run it click on scan wait for it to finish then clean. If it picks anything up tell it to remove it.

Then reboot. Then run it again / file / uninstall

I would uninstall Systemcare it's rubbish. I would uninstall Malware fighter too.

If ccleaner is installed you can delete this in startup

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [GrooveMonitor] "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12\GrooveMonitor.exe"

I would disable this in ccleaner's options

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [CCleaner Monitoring] "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe" /MONITOR it can slow booting into windows down

I would uninstall AVG secure toolbar

After running adwcleaner once normally, and again after rebooting, the issue was almost gone. The homepage was gone, but firefox kept asking me to set it as the default browser every time i opened it, no matter which option i chose. I thought this was simply an issue with firefox not remembering preferences, so i decided to refresh firefox. After doing so, the homepage came back, and this time in chrome as well, somehow, even though it didn't appear before the refresh.
Adwcleaner seems great, but it clearly didn't completely remove whatever's causing this. Any other suggestions?
