I need to standardize the USB 2.0 header in the NUC, but be damned if I can find the right cable, It's all very confusing, and microsatacables.Com isn't responding. Any help?

What EXACTLY are you trying to do? That unit has a variety of build in USB options.

2x Thunderbolt 3 (rear)
4x USB 3.0 Type-A (rear)
1x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C (front)
1x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A (front)
1x USB 3.0 Type-A Charging Port (front)
1x SDXC UHS-I Slot (front)
CIR (front)
2x USB 3.0 / 2x USB 2.0 internal headers

If you are trying to connect something to the INTERNAL USB 2.0 header, WHAT exactly are you trying to connect to it? If you are trying to connect to the external USB 2.0 ports, you should not need anything at all for that. Just plug the device or a hub into it.

I need to standardize the internal 2.0 header. I bought a remote PC starter that plugs into a standard USB 2.0 header. The one in the NUC isn't standard 2.54. It's 1.55mm pitch

Isn't standard 2.54mm? And yes it plugs into a typical 9 pin
I believe the images I saw of the NUC said a connector that seemed to have 2 pins was the header.. But tbh I don't know. Whatever a NUC8i7HNK has

From tech specs doc

USB 2.0 ports (maximum current is 500 mA for each port of the white header (1 A total):
― Two ports via internal common IO header (white)
― One port is reserved for the M.2 2230 Wireless module

I don't get how that works..
Aha, found the image
Attaching here if I can

There we go.. Says the header is B in white

You misspelled the model in the title. You said it's an NHK, but it's actually an HNK. No wonder it's been hard to find any information on that unit. LOL.

IDK, maybe I'm missing something but I'm not seeing ANY adapters available to go from the Intel internal USB 2.0 2mm pin pitch header to a standard desktop 2.54 pin pitch header. Surely there must be some otherwise why would Intel even provide those headers, but, it may be that Intel only expects that header to be used with proprietary devices that are provided through them or their partners, and use the 2mm pitch connector.

You may need to contact Intel product support and find out if there are even adapters available and if there are, whether they will work with the device you intend to connect. The other option is you might want to check out the NUC forum where there are certainly folks with a lot more experience using these devices that can probably tell you part numbers off the top of their heads.

SOB I thought I fixed that title.. Sry
No I need 1.25mm pitch to standard 2.54
Apparently that connector on the board is a "Common IO" connector. I guess it's several 2.0 USB in one?
This is the only adapter for it I could find
https://www.microsatacables.com/intel-nuc-nuc6i7kyk-skull-canyon-internal-common-io-header-df1-25mm-20-pin
It gives 2 normal USB plugs and for some reason a female cable connection. I need male, like I'd plug into on a standard MoBo

I've been on the intel community forum for a ouple days on this now.
I was in general, when u showed me that I put a new one in the NUC forum, they locked it and said stick with original thread 😛

I don't see that as a huge problem, you could adapt it further (though I don't think there is much call for that particular form change) Or splice in your own to that cable. Hardest thing to get there is the 20-pin pinout, the connector, and the tiny sockets. That cable has it on there, you should be able to probe out, or eyeball, each wire and figure out which pins carry USB.

You could snip the end off of this: https://www.amazon.com/SIENOC-USB3-0-Female-Motherboard-Adapter/dp/B00O0HC3Y0/ref=pd_sim_147_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00O0HC3Y0&pd_rd_r=f24129da-ed0b-11e8-a0b8-b3ecfb8dcc27&pd_rd_w=9fka4&pd_rd_wg=Eplmz&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=18bb0b78-4200-49b9-ac91-f141d61a1780&pf_rd_r=FJHR9M8F3N5VPVRXAJSM&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=FJHR9M8F3N5VPVRXAJSM

Depends on how fancy you want it to look, or just to have it work. Not that splicing can't look professional, a little heat shrink and no one is the wiser.

Splicing wires together properly requires a soldering iron, but there are cheap ways. A pair of wire strippers (or scissors, nail clippers) to cut the wires and strip of the insulation from the two ends you want to splice, you twist them together, fold it inline with the wire and wrap it in a small amount of electrical tape. Do this with each wire, then wrap all of them with together with electrical tape for stability.

You don't need a heat gun to use heat shrink tubing, either. Any heat source will do. Lighter is a common way, some people just get their soldering iron near it. You could do it with an oven/range. Even some hair dryers can get hot enough.

I would have to sit down and diagram it out, but it only looks like it would take 5 out of those twenty wires.

To get really fancy, could probably have a small PCB made with the 20-pin on one side and the 9-pin header on the other. But would still need the pinout, and the easiest way to get that would be buying their cable. Would take about 15 minutes to probe it out.

I don't see why not.

They already gave me the pinout diagram, guess I wasn't clear. Someone on the intel forum said to ask for that/them make cable.. I wanted them to make it. They sent me diagram
Is all this shit even gonna fit within a NUC8i7HNK? They look even tinier than the square box ones. Like the cable plus this pcb for the remote. There enuff empty space?

Probably not worth their time, or your money for that matter, to have a custom cable made.

I don't know how large your device is. Looks like there is room for a 42mm M.2 card next to the connector, that is about it. Any large or thicker than that and you might not be able to get the lid on.
