I got two Asus RT-AX-3000 routers. One that is the default router and the secondary router is the one I set up as an AI mesh.

The connections only for 2.4ghz are appearing on the enable radio from the AI Mesh Router under Aimesh<management. But for whatever reason the 5ghz does not show up on the AI mesh router at all.

And yes I enabled ethernet backhaul mode for the secondary router. No matter what I do, the reception for the 5ghz neither appears on the secondary router and the signal when using the primary one fluctuates. This didn't happen before so I'd like to know if there is a fix.

And yes I reset both the routers so many times. The version is 3.0.0.4.388_23925

I am only using just two routers and that is all. If its more ideal to make the secondary router as an access point, how do i do that if its an AI mesh router?

This router?

https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/RT-AX3000/E16134_RT-AX3000_UM_1119.pdf?model=RT-AX3000

Check the Wireless settings in 4.1/4.11 (physically numbered Page 53).

Be sure to "Apply" if changes are warranted and made.

Yes this is what I tried and for whatever reason the 5ghz band doesn't show up on the AI mesh node router and the channels don't appear either

I can't figure out why it neither lets me get the 5ghz band nor does it let me change the channels...

Since you have a wired backhaul, why not run the second unit as an AP rather than an AI Mesh node?
What benefit do you believe you will get from an AI Mesh node over a standard AP ?

I think I should probably try doing that.

With ai mesh I like that I don't have to create another set of SSIDs.

I guess I'll try to do that and see what happens.

You don't have to create another set of ssid you can make them all the same if you want. The only difference would be on some mesh systems if you change the password you only change it once and it changes all your units with AP you would have change each manually. I guess if you have 20 AP it would be a chore but anyone that big would be using AP that have software to centrally manage them.

"mesh" is mostly a marketing scam, they are basically wifi repeater with the same downside of repeater but somewhat simpler configuration.

Ive tried setting it up as primary router and access point and it never seems to connect. No matter what i do, the router doesn't seem to accept the 5ghz and jyst shows the errors I've mentioned.

I've sent it to asus for servicing. Will post an update if this topic doesn't get closed.
