Question cant get ubuntu 20.04 to install

Ive got a pretty good pc for free and i tried to install ubuntu 20.04 to it to make a server out of it
every time i try to boot it from the installer usb that i burned with rufus it just hangs at the purple screen with some logos on the bottom
ive seen on a reddit thread that i just need to switch boot mode to UEFI from legacy but i cant seem to find it in the bios setup/options ive checked all settings and its not anywhere

what should i do?


specs:
mobo: lenovo L-IG41M3 V1.1
processor: intel pentium duo E6700 at 3.20ghz
ram: 8gb ddr3
storage:
1tb hdd (full of data formatted on an ext4 partition),
230gb hdd that ill try to use as boot drive (empty)

but can i do that without being able to boot up the old install?

No. If you can't boot it then you can't get that information. Assuming you built it originally you should already know what you installed.
