Question Can't get Windows 10 to install on SSD

I've been using my Brix 1900 for about a year and recently decided to do a rebuild.

When I tried to reinstall via a USB I went through the normal installation process, taking the USB stick out when you get the countdown for the restart.

However the system won't boot, normally getting the EFI error message.

Repair tools from the USB won't work, I've rebuild the bcd several times and have noticed it doesn't find any windows installations. However I can see the windows 10 as being found on the recovery tool screen. I also tried changing from gpt to mbr with no fix. When looking at files installed on the hdd it looks like Windows installed so I am stumped.

Tried making the USB installer with both the Microsoft tool and Rufus but still no luck.

Any suggestions?

what an annoying quick guide... no page numbers - https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Manual/brix_manual_bios-quick-guide.pdf

you shouldn't need to take USB out, PC should know to boot off the hdd/ssd at that stage

Try this,
Set the Drive you want to install win 10 to as main drive in Boot order
put the USB with win 10 installer in PC
Go to Exit & Save menu and use Boot override menu to use the USB this one time, and then next restart the PC will use the hdd or ssd or nvme or whatever type of drive you have.

this is a fairly common problem. The installation isn't completed, all its done is restarted and at this stage it should have booted off the drive you want win 10 on and then set up users and so on. Its a half installed mess if it fails at 1st restart step. Only fix is start again.
