Hello,

It won't let me go back to Windows 10, says "We're sorry, but you can't go back"

My Windows.old files are still there, havn't touched or ran system cleanup. My windows $Windows.~BT and $Windows.~WS are still there as well, but said were last updated on 8/3/2015 9:03 PM, which is odd becuase I installed Windows 10 on July 29, 2015. The files are 386 KB and 47.3 MB, respectively. I was able to use the feature, or at least press the button, but never hit "Next", up until a few days ago, definitely after 8/3/2015. Not sure exactly what happened.

My #1 priority right now is going back to Windows 8.1, I realized I messed up and went against the old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." I was doing absolutely amazing with Windows 8.1

The day after I update, BSoDs, broken programs, freezes, hard locks.

I realize I could do a "Refresh" to possibly solve the issue but I don't really like the Privacy violations of Windows 10.

Anyways, anyone know a better way to go back to Windows 10 without having to do a clean install and remove everything? Don't say the feature built into Settings as that doesn't work.

Thanks

if you don't like the privacy violation of Windows 10.. you should get off of facebook, stop using google, yahoo, instagram, twitter and such. They all pretty much have the same issues.

From what I can re-call, after the free upgrade of windows 10. you have 30 days to roll-back to your previous windows. If you do not roll-back you are stuck with what you want.

Of course if you are so desperate to get off of 10 because of those so called privacy violations issues (love how everyone bags on microsoft about these but no other company) than get another legal copy of windows 8.1 and do a clean install.

TheCoolsurdy has said it,
As regards to privacy issues, Microsoft has been bagged big time for this, but, Google, Yahoo, Apple, all these others, are doing the exact same thing.
But anyway, If Microsoft won't let you roll back.
See this link
It tells how to roll back if you have the Windows.old folder and Windows won't let you roll back.
Hope the helps,

Most useless response ever. I just said I don't really care that much, but I would just like to go to 8.1 becuase I want to. Also I said I already know about clean installs, I'm seeing if there's another option.

Hey 7malligk,

Thanks for your answer. I was just wondering if you know exactly how this program works? Will it install any spyware bloatware etc on the new OS? And how will this program fix my issue if Windows can't?

If you didn't care that much than you whining is useless and unnecessary. Your question was useless in itself. If you did some research you to could have found the answer on yourself and like I said, if you really want to go back to windows 8.1 because you know you don't care that much do an clean install and you are done.

are you going to ask where to download the driver to your system next?

Hi,
I have never used this program one on one, but I have used other software by EaseUS and they have worked without installing any other rubbish.
Also, if I see rightly that your issue is that you want to downgrade to Windows 8.1 but can't because Windows 10 won't let you even though you have the Windows.old folder. Then this program will downgrade back to your old OS for you.
When you open the software after installing, You will be greeted with the Splash screen and then you will be shown the screen where you can either “Go Back” or “Backup System”.
Here you can choose to 'Go Back' to Windows 8.1, or you can 'Backup System' before downgrading.
I would recommend backing up before going back first, but you can go strait back if you want.
The software is a trial, but it will still let you downgrade within the 30 Trial Period.
Hope this Helps
