I know this has been an issue said multiple times, and the answers have always been to go with a Dual Link DVI or HDMI 2.0 or a Display Port cable. I am currently running a Nvidia 960 graphics card, and just bought a ASUS MG248Q monitor. The monitor specs clearly say 144 hz, but for some reason its not letting me. I used the Display port cable that came with the monitor. (I also have HDMI cable that came with the monitor, but does not say the specs for it for some reason) For some reason, the computer isn't even giving me the option to go higher than 60 Hz. The software that came with the monitor simply crashes when I attempt to use it. Any help would be grateful.

Ok, I have figured this out. You have to right click and open the Nvidia control panel. In the resolutions window, you have to scroll down to the PC resolutions. For me, it was the top most available resolution under PC.
ok so you have a freesync screen and a gsync graphics card they are only semi compatible. you cannot use adaptive refresh rates but you can lock the screen at say 120hz and use it like that. i dont use any software for my screen windows just knew what it was and i left it at that. i would uninstall any software thats made for gsync.

what should happen is the desktop remains 60hz but in games you have the option to select 1920x1080@120hz etc.. where you select your resolution. on my screen the desktop browser etc.. anything not a directx game is still 60hz just fulls creen games can be higher.

i have a freesync screen and card though ..
