Question Can't go to administrative web interface after firmware upgrade of Asus AC68U

Hi,

I have an AC68U, actually an AC-1900 t-mobile router which I have flashed to this firmware and worked fine for the past few years. This morning, I decided to upgrade the router's firmware, the Check firmware feature doesn't work, so I decided to go to Asus's website and download and install the router. For some reason, I can't go to the administrative webpage either via http or https, Asus router android app doesn't work either. However, the router seems to be working as I can go to the internet and able to ssh into the router.

I happen to have another spare router in case this one fails, so I have 2 questions, is there a way to fix the web interface and 2) see if I can get the configuration of the router via ssh?

Start with a factory reset using the button.

That is actually fairly trick to do, they didn't really want to make it that easy for someone to get a router for 1/2 the cost.

You need to read the instructions on how you upgrade on of these devices. I suspect to replace the firmware you must follow that messy process using the recovery mode. You also have to check that the firmware you have will actually work on that router. Asus has made some changes over the years and you have to be careful loading the new firmware into some older routers even when they are asus.

Yes, I know how to hard reset the router. But I want to get the configs off from the router so I can transfer to another router before I do that.

All you can do is try the IP address provided by the DHCP server as the gateway. If that doesn't work via HTTP or HTTPs, then you could try Putty to access via SSH or Telnet.
If none of that works, I don't know of anything but a factory reset.
As @bill001g said, those T-Mobile versions had funky firmware loaded that required special breakout to get "normal" firmware. I purposefully stayed away because of that.

I've mentioned that in the first post I can ssh into the router. I would like to know where is the location of the config.
