Hi

My Old HD packed in last night and i have tried to reinstall W7 to a SSD i was using for games only. I am booting from CD and i can get the install about 80% through where it asks me to type PC name etc, but eventually it just goes to black screen saying boot from CD and doesn't seem to want to continue. I thought it might be because of the the SATA connectors so i have even used the same SATA connection the old HD was using to the mobo and the same thing happens.

I have included a screenshot of the 3 HD's i have. The top 1 is the one i want W7 on and it has the highest priority, so i am not sure why it won't contine the install. My Mobo is Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H. Thanks

I have had trouble with SSDs similar to what you are experiencing. Never did determine the cause but I did find that I was oft able to recover functionality by doing a full format from another PC. I keep one of these handy to make backups which are stored off site but it also comes in very handy for this and other purposes.

Diskpart has saved my tail in other instances

Hi

I unplugged al my sata drives and connections and reconnected them. That seemed to help as I actually got to windows and managed to do the first load of updateds. However after restarting it says loading operating system and that's it.

Any ideads?
