[SOLVED] Can't install final standoff

I am in the process of putting my motherboard (GIGABYTE B550 AORUS PRO AC) into my case (Corsair 4000D airflow).

When I first put the board in it was clearly crooked. I reoriented it and it seemed to line up with all the standoffs, but I in hindsight I must not have checked closely enough. Of the 8 standoffs 7 went in without any difficulty (even the stupid, annoying on next to the IO shield in the corner). The 8th though proved impossible to get in and I soon saw that the standoff was misaligned.

I had used the sides of the cases and the cable bar as reference points to ensure that the board was aligned correctly and all of the lines seemed parallel, but when I looked closer I discovered that the goddamn IO shield wasn't popped in fully. The gap is tiny, which is why I didn't notice it at first.

It is tempting to just say 7 standoffs plus the peg in the middle is good enough, but that seems like a bad idea. Obviously I have to fix this.

Do I have to remove all of the screws or can I just loosen them to reorient the board slightly?

Also, any tips on how I can avoid making the same mistake twice?

Solution
First get the i/o shield in properly.
You usually need a bit of pushing all around the perimeter to get it seated.. Loosen the screws. Normally you want to ensure that the motherboard fits into the i/o shield and then tighten the screws.
It may take a bit of pressure to push the motherboard into the spring tabs on the shield.

of course you could just try loosening them and making sure everything is in place, then if still no luck remove them all.

i've always just set them in place and slowly turned each a bit at a time until all are fully tight.

that's one nice thing about modular cases;
when the motherboard tray is removable it can make this task easier.

Thanks for the replies.

After loosening the screws I was able to pop the i/o shield in properly. The difference was hardly noticeable, but I was able to confirm that the 8th standoff was properly aligned and it screwed in without a problem.
