Question Can't install macOS

Hi all,
I got a 2008 iMac and am trying to install macOS. The recovery mode won't work, so I've made install USBs. I've tried all apart from mavericks. Yosemite and El Capitan ask for my apple ID then give error 403. Lion, Snow leopard and leopard don't work, and give an error before install anything. I'm trying mavericks now.

That's Intel based iMac.
You could try installing windows 7 on it.

I've already tried, but the USB doesn't show up on the boot menu

Try burning an actual DVD of Snow Leopard from an ISO file, and try booting with that. Archive.org has one available.
