This isn't actually my card, it's an used one ive spotted going for cheap on the internet, so I can't actually run any diagnostics on it.
The owner claims the gpu works and outputs video just fine, but he can't install the drivers on it.
Is there any way for a card to be physically damaged itself so that driver updates fail? or could it just be a software issue? Its a very good deal so I'd like to buy it if it worked well.
Thanks guys

That's odd. Why can't he install the GPU drivers, when the GPU is working properly in the first place ? Which GPU model is it, and how old ? Who is the AIB of the card ?

Also, assuming the GPU has already been installed on his/her system, then ask them to post a GPU-Z screenshot of the card, and look under the Device Manager "Display Adapters" setting info as well.

Does it say Code 43 error there/Device Manager ?

One installs drivers in windows, not on the graphics card.
A graphics card has a default low res mode that works without any drivers at all.
Possibly that is what the seller sees.
But one needs to be able to install the correct drivers to make it run at full resolution and functionality.

I would stay away, unless the sale is on ebay and you pay via paypal.
As a buyer, you are protected unless this inability to install drivers is disclosed and the unit is sold "as is"

Too many red flags ! 🏃🏃🏃🏃
Yup, Yup, Yup! It's likely been modified for mining use, which is why the drivers won't install. Run fast, run hard, but absolutely run away!
Run away.

So, he said he gets a black screen and nothing else. I know I know, I won't blindly purchase this as is. (As for ebay or paypal, the're not available in my country, It's marketplace so its kinda sketcky lol)
Thanks for the help guys!

Even if ebay/paypal were an option, run away.

You'd be wasting time and effort getting your money back, for a known broken part.
Just avoid completely.
