I have tried several things to install a new Canon MB5140 over the network but have received one of three errors every time regardless of the fixes I've tried. I go into network and open the other computer and i can see the printer but when i double click it, it either says "You cannot connect to this printer", "Drivers cannot be found for this printer, press ok to manually find", or it just sits and searches until i stop it. Ive tried downloading official software from canon but it cannot find the printer and is therefore unable to install the drivers, i have tried ending the Spooler service and i have tried changing ip addresses of pcs on the network and have just kinda fiddled with the network to see if that was a problem but nothing so far has worked. There is another pc on the network which connected to the printer immediately and installed the drivers the first time i tried, so i think it may be a problem with this pc. All pcs are using windows 10 and all of them are up to date. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Hi there,

is the printer installed on a computer or a server ?
you can connect and install the printer just via windows-explorer and enter this location: \\computer-or servername\ (example: \\mycomputer\) ans then enter...

it will give you the shares from that computer/server and if the printers are shared correctly it will show these too...

double-click on the printer and the drivers should install from that computer / server straight to your computer (depending if the drivers for your OS are installed correctly)
be sure 32 and 64 bits drivers are installed on the computer/server where the Printer is connected to !

let us know if this is working !

Cheers, Louise...
