I am having a rough time installing windows 2000 professional enterprise edition. I have my boot priorities correct in each instance when booting from the cdrom, hard drive and floppy, but i fail every time. After the initial load from cd and hard disk i get a boot_device_inaccessible error, when loading from a floppy i get a kmode_exception_not_handled error. How do i get this thing to install.

note: i have an athlon based system

Try a hard drive utillity like Partition Magic. Worked for me. I made a NTFS partition first and then installed 2000 there with no probs.

I got the boot_device_inaccessible error too. It happen to me when I try to change the MoBo but use the same Hard Drive. My suggestion would be boot to the Window normally (current version, Win98 or whatever). Then exit to Dos-prompt (make sure you back up whatever you want first), then run fdisk.

Delet all active partitions and create a new DOS partition(s). Then exit fdisk and format you new active partition(s). After finish formatting the partition(s), reboot your machine (don't forget to insert Win2K CD-ROM into the CD tray. Then you should be able to start with CD-ROM (make sure you set in the Bios to booth from CD first). then perform Win2K installation. Good luck.
