Okay, so this has been a tough one for a while now, but let me try and list as much of what I can. Firstly, specs
CPU: i7-6700k
Mobo: Z170A Gaming M7
SSD: Kingston HyperX Fury
RAM: 2 8GB sticks, can't tell the brand
Okay, so I tried installing Windows 10 on a friend's PC, and when we ran the installer, it would show the Windows logo with no spinning dots underneath. Nothing else would happen. We tried 3 different USB configurations, 2 with Rufus and one with the Windows Media Creation Tool. Some posts suggested switching to UEFI mode, but in UEFI it would either freeze or give a black screen.

I actually managed to install Ubuntu on it, but my friend prefers Windows so we're still trying that. We also tried installing Windows 10 via an old DVD, and the installation seemed to work, but then it completed and nothing happened.

Other things we tried
  • Switching display to mobo
  • Just running with one stick of RAM/alternating RAM
  • Unplugging ssd/unplugging mechanical hard drive
Anything else we could be missing here?
