Hey,

I have a friends computer. It was pretty messed up hasn't been turned on for 7 months. So when they finally turned it on every was slow and wouldn't update. Eventually whilst trying to troubleshoot the system it will give me a BSOD "system service exception". Whilst trying to fix I just gave up and asked the friend if I could back up your data and just install a fresh copy of windows 10. He agreed.

So I go ahead and create a media installation and start the process. Get to the point where I select the drive I want it on and can't because I believe its not the right file format. I try and convert it to mbr I think it was and seems to all go fine. However when going back to the installation and go to select the drive its still the same. I cannot format or delete the partition and start actually getting the error "Windows cannot be installed to this disk, The disk may fail soon".

I'm not sure what to do at this point. I'm more than happy sticking this SSD in another computer and format it if that is actually possible and sticking it back in the system and hoping I can get the windows installation on it.

I do believe this SSD may be corrupted and I may need to get a new one for him.

At that point, you DELETE all existing partitions on the drive.

Replace the disk.
Most likely some critical SMART parameter has been tripped.
Such drive is not safe to use.Data corruption and data loss may occur.

You can diagnose the drive with manufacturer specific SSD tool, to make sure it is bad.
But most likely it is.
