I was trying to install on Windows 8 on my Ubuntu PC (Not dual boot) but when I insert my installation DVD and power my PC,it seems to ignore the DVD and go straight to Ubuntu.
I can access the DVD in Ubuntu, and i can see the setup.exe and other files.
I did went to my BIOS setup and but DVD at first, and selected DVD to boot. And when I restart my PC, my PC says "Checking media [Fail]" 3 times and goes to Ubuntu.
Am I doing something wrong? How can I get my PC to load the installation disc?

Something to try, instead of using the bios to boot the dvd to use the F-key "Select boot drive/disk" thats displayed just after POST and select the "Uefi: Windows Install/Optical drive" (note that it must say efi or uefi in front of it) and select that to boot from.

If that doesnt work either; Do you have another pc you can test to see if the win8 install disk actually works? You dont need to install win8 to that pc, just see if it actually can boot from the disk. I'm thinking either disk or the drive is bad.
