Hey so I've recently gone out and purchased a Samsung 960 Evo M.2 1TB, and I wanted to install windows on it and reformat my other SSDs. Unfortunately this has been far from an easy process.

Currently my M.2 Drive is recognized in my Bios. I had to allocate the space in Disk Management on Windows to get it to be recognized by the computer with windows installed on one of my SSDs. I tried to boot from Windows DVD so I could install a fresh copy of Windows onto my M.2 drive, however it doesn't show up as a drive. I had to install the NVMe from the Samsung website to get my computer to even recognize the M.2 in the Disk Management so I could allocate the space.

What exactly am I missing/should be doing now to get it to show up when I boot from my Windows 7 DVD so I can install Windows onto it?

Solution
Install windows 10.

With windows 7 there are bunch of hotfixes needed to be integrated for nvme ssd support
plus integration of USB drivers is necessary also.
If you want to proceed with hotfix integration, then here's list of all necessary hotfixes (for 64bit windows 7):
  • For NVME support:
    Windows6.1-KB2990941-v3-x64.msu
    Windows6.1-KB3087873-v2-x64.msu

    MS convenience rollup:
    Windows6.1-KB3020369-x64.msu
    windows6.1-kb3125574-v4-x64.msu

    Windows update fix:
    Windows6.1-KB3075851-x64.msu
    Windows6.1-KB3078601-x64.msu
    Windows6.1-KB3083324-x64.msu
    Windows6.1-KB3083710-x64.msu
    Windows6.1-KB3102810-x64.msu
    Windows6.1-KB3109094-x64.msu
    Windows6.1-KB3112343-x64.msu
    Windows6.1-KB3135445-x64.msu
    Windows6.1-KB3138612-x64.msu...

Plus - you have to replace several files from windows 10 installation dvd:
  • boot.wim
    setup.exe
