Question My monitor has died and looking for replacement one.

Good morning all,

Recently my Samsung Odyssey G5 has broken and looking for a replacement and needing some ideas.
Mainly play PS5 but also have a pc.

Im wanting atleast 144hz and 1440p, from what I've read curved is always better for gaming so would like to stick with that unless advised otherwise.
Atleast 1ms MPRT but if possible 1ms GTG.
27 inches atleast and not looking to spend more then £300/250.

The Samsung G5s and similar specced are being sold for about 150 but reading reviews and spec comparisions they are low end monitors with just those features slapped onto it.
So I thought upping my budget would help me get something better but not quite spending 600+ on a 4k 240hz monitor as have no need for it yet.

Since you already had Samsung monitor, how about another one?

Matches all your requirements, while being 240 Hz panel (more than enough).

I mean from that list this does look the best out of them, highest refresh rate, VRR, HDMI 2.1, 1ms gtg, is also a smart TV with speakers. + little bit of backlighting

Good shout honestly.

Only question is that apparently the input lag on the monitor massively suffers when you have the backlighting on? How does that make sense?

Backlight alone doesn't increase input lag.
Backlight is like a light switch. Flip it ON and it stays on, without requiring additional compute power from monitor.

Now, there are backlight related features that do increase input lag. One of such is backlight strobing (rapidly turning backlight ON and OFF), aka black frame insertion (BFI). Since idea is, that monitor adds black frames between rendered frames, to reduce motion blur. But monitor has to compute and keep the strobing effect in sync with refresh rate, thus requiring more compute power from monitor and it, in turn, can increase input lag.
