Cant install windows .

i recently built a computer

i cant seem to install windows it tells me to make sure bios controlers are set and also it wonlt let me partition the hdd idk why.(also i dont know what any of that means)

Does it mention gpt partitioning a hard drive when installing windows?

Edit: Open your bios settings (when you power on your PC it will tell you which key to press to open it)

Locate the hard drive controller settings and change it to SATA or AHCI mode. Save the settings, reboot and try installing windows again.

During the windows setup, choose custom install and delete the hard drive partition if there is any (or clean it) then try to install windows

Oh ok. Sounds like your bios settings just need to be fixed. Read the step I posted regarding the bios and try it out


Open your bios settings (when you power on your PC it will tell you which key to press to open it)

Locate the hard drive controller settings and change it to SATA or AHCI mode. Save the settings, reboot and try installing windows again.

Do both the sata and ahci mode settings. See which one works for you. Usually these setting are found under the advanced tab

Disable the integrated sata controller, try installing windows again and let me know if the error code is different

i disabled it and it wont show the hdd

Alright, so leave the integrated sata setting enabled.

In the part where it says AHCI, which other settings does it give you?(IDE, sata etc.)

Change it to IDE test that setting but, don't try raid, that's sure not to work

If that doesn't work, change back to AHCI mode and
check the boot order (do HDD first, CD drive second or CD first, HDD second)

same as before , wont lete me partition it
ive done that too but the hdd doesnt have a partition and it wont let me make one.

Have you tried formatting and installing to it? Do an easy install instead of custom

If you could send a screenshot of every tab of your bios I can look into it for conflicting settings. It should've been working by now
