Can't open user folder

I have an dell xps with windows 7 and suddenly, I can't seem to be able to open anything in the users folder, whenever I try to open it, it says I need to install an appropriate program to run. Help

Open system restore and go back to a time before this started happening. If you can even run any programs at all. If nothing works, and you don't have a second account to test things with, boot off a Windows 7 disk and do a Repair setup.
