Hello everyone!

I recently had to replace my CPU and my mobo after both were fried by ESD.
So I picked up an FX-8350 and an M5A99FX PRO R2.0 put everything together it all works fine aside from getting cpu fan errors every time I boot. My problem is I can't overclock AT ALL. No matter what voltage no matter what ratio. When I boot the overclocking fails and I have to run without it. I'm sort of new to overclocking but I have previously hit a stable 5ghz on my previous FX-8320 so I'm pretty sure I'm doing all of the voltages right. If more info is needed just let me know. Any answers would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Spec List:
Processor: AMD FX 8350
Cooler: Corsair H100i
RAM: 1x 8GB Patriot module (Not overclocked)
Motherboard: Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0
Graphics: GTX 660 Ti (Nvidia reference design)
Drive: Seagate 1TB HDD
PSU: 600W EVGA 600B

Well unfortunately overclocking is never a guaranteed thing. Its common taht CPUs can be overclocked, but it doesn't always happen. By the sounds of it your CPU you have now just barely passed the quality check and isn't able to overclock any at all.

Either that or your motherboard is some what defective and is causing the crash every time you try to use it. If you still have your old FX8320 you should try it in this motherboard, its possible it is still working while the motherboard you had before got fried. If it does work and can be overclocked it would tell you if the FX 8350 just doesn't have any headroom for overclocking or if the motherboard is messed up.

But it will auto over clock for me if I enable the optimized settings on the board

Now that I remember...I did get it at 4.6 and was able to boot past the bios but after the windows is starting splash screen was finished my screen went black but the pc stayed on. After I shut it down the overclocking failed when i turned it back on. Any reason why?

Thank you! :D Turns out some of my settings were wrong.
