Hey. Few days ago I decided to upgrade my RAM from Hyper X fury 16GB 3200mhz to Kingston fury 32 GB 3600mhz. I checked if my motherboard (Asus TUF z390 plus gaming wifi) was compatible. It wasn't QVL. So today I got it, installed it, ran it(without xmp, base clock). Worked fine. But when I enabled XMP tied both 1 and 2 it crashed when tried to log in sometimes even before it loaded. Tried higher voltage it loaded. So I thought it was fine but after 2 minutes it crashed again. It messed up my wifi adapter somehow and had to factory reset the system(reinstalled Windows) still couldn't get it to 3600Mhz. Right now my RAM is running on 3200Mhz(running fine). What should I do?
And when running on 3600Mhz my PC starts making squeaky sound and I don't know where it comes from. My setup: i7-8700k, Asus TUF z390 plus gaming wifi, Kingston fury 32 GB 3600Mhz 16x2, RTX 2070 windforce 8G, EVGA 850 B3.
Thanks 🙏😁

Did you buy a kit of 2 sticks or 2 separate sticks?

Got the proper bios?

Kit with 2 sticks. I got my PC 2020 Christmas and nope i didn't flash my bios I'll try it right now.
Edit---
I tried flashing bios-didnt help, reinstalling RAM-didnt help, turned on memOK- loaded I logged in and after 20 seconds it crashed again

i7-8700K is a cpu that only supports 2666mhz. This cpu cant support higher than 2666 coz it will just crash.
That would be incorrect. My 8700k has been running 3200 for years without issue as have countless others. 2666 is just the stock for Intels specs, xmp will allow higher speeds.

@Stew2004 Possible the memory controller is not going to work with that ram with it's stock voltage and timings. To get 3600 you may have to add voltage and/or loosen the timings or even adjust the bclk of the cpu. However the performance difference between 3200 and 3600 on that platform will be little to none.

as @bignastyid said the performance gain is NONE! so do not try to get it to 3600 by adding voltage (as it's the only way around as your cpu can't handle higher freq with current overclocked! voltage) , it would kill your cpu :)
just use it as it is , 3200mhz is totally fine
good luck :)

I will second this, My 8700k running at 5.1Ghz is using G.Skill 32GB 3600Mhz CL14 ram without issue. Mine loaded with the XMP profile.

Dropping from 3600 to 3200Mhz you might be able to tighten your timings a little to offset the slower speeds, but more then likely you wont notice a hole lot of difference between the two.
