So i was going to overclock my rx 580 from 1380mhz to 1440 ish and even a little overclock crashes the game. I don't know what to do. The driver is 17.10.1

And with that we say: Welcome to the Silicone lottery 😀 and with that I can inform you 😀

When chip manufacturers like Intel, TSMC, UMC, GF, etc. make wafers, there are slight variations in material quality across the wafer surface, there are local variations in how the lithography, metal vapor deposition, photoresist chemical deposition, etc. are done and this can yield a significant contrast between how good the best chip of a given batch will perform vs how bad the worst chip of the same batch will perform.
When you get a better chip that will in essence overclock better you have thus won the silicon lottery.

It's quite possible that you are unable to overclock your graphics card. Just because you saw someone else overclock their RX 580 does not mean that you will be able to do so with your RX 580. Did you attempt and test a very small overclock to something like 1385mhz?

As I said, just because you saw someone else overclock their RX 580 does not mean that you will be able to do so with your RX 580.

Since the 1385mhz overclock wasn't stable, I would say you're not able to overclock that graphics card.

No problem :)

If you want to get into overclocking when it comes to CPU and GPU you need to learn this :)

There are ways to get around this if you have the time to search the internett for what kind of BATCH numbers people have bought and what kind of OC`s they can get on it. If several have the same BATCH and reports they get good OC`s you can try and get a CPU or GPU with the same batch (now this can be hard to do)
