Cant play my pc-game :/Halo has a direct draw error message, can you help me?

Halo worked on windows Vista about a month ago, but it seems atht an automatic update downloaded a newer version of direct X and I cannot get the version of direct X to work for my Halo game. Can you Help?

Uninstall that version of directX

Thanks, kalemb. I tried that earlier, but it (the computer) continues running the upgraded version. Each time I try to reinstall DirectX 9, I'm told that the newest version has already downloaded and no action will be taken. Thanks again.
