I have a Netgear G54 WGR614v10 wireless router, which I have hardwired to my desktop, wifi connections include 2 smart TVs and 2 iphones and 1 other desktop connected hardwired rarely on/used, so today I called my ISP (Spectrum) and I'm paying $69.97 for 200mgb speed, so they tested my speed and I'm getting 50.9 DL and 12.0 UL, so the tech asked me to disconnect my router and just hardwire the modem to my desktop and my speeds went way upto 227.0 DL and 56.5 UL which is very good what I should be getting while my router is connected,
The tech told me it could be an bad/old router or settings in router and to try changing the channel in settings which I changed to 11 and updated the firmware but it didn't help, so my question is now is my router too old/bad, and if so could someone help in suggesting a good under $50 new router or is there something else I can do? any help would be greatly appreciated, I feel that if I'm not reaching the 200mb speed I'm paying $69.97 for nothing.
