Question Can't reactivate Windows 10 on my new PC

Hi everyone,
I tried to reinstall Windows 10 on my new PC and this is the end error code i've received

. My previous PC's license was digital and linked to my Microsoft account (the same that I am logged in on). Will I need to buy a new copy of Windows? Thanks for all the help

are you attempting to reinstall the same version of Windows 10 though? A license for Windows 10 home will not work with Windows 10 pro for example.

Windows licenses are linked to a specific motherboard. If your new computer has a different motherboard than your old computer you will need to unlink the license from your old computer and not use that computer again. If you want to use both your old computer and your new computer then you would need to buy a new license.

I'm not actually sure, since I was a kid when it was bought and activated. I think I'd get a different error code when inputing the license key from my old to the new one?

You should call Microsoft and review the situation with their representative to get final instructions on whether or not the old license can be transferred or whether you will have to buy a new license.

if the old PC was an OEM made PC, you can't move those licences. By OEM Made, I mean, if its made by Dell or one of the big companies as they have non transferable licences tied to PC. Most other OEM licences should move. Age of PC has nothing to do with it.
Microsoft are only ones who can answer why it won't work.

if the win 10 is actually an converted version of Windows 7 or 8, you might be able to move it if it was an OEM made pc originally, so I would still ask Microsoft if that is case.
