Question cant read internal SSD via sata adapter

attempting to salvage SSD contents from dead windows laptop (power supply). Removed SSD and attached to another windows desktop via Sata / USB adapter. SSD shows up as removable Drive E:, but with no contents.

1.R u sure the laptop didn't die cos the ssd died...?
2.Did you connect it to both the Power supply and motherboard (sata) ?
When you do and your files appear , search on youtube guides on how to make your ssd your PRIMARY disk through bios (type your motherboard's name in the title)

The laptop wont power-up at all, so I dont think it is a SSD issue. The StarTech SATA / USB adapter I am using stated that no additional power connection is required - Power is supplied via the USB.

uhm, that drive is NVME which will not work in that Sata-usb adapter. Please verify model#'s

That NVMe drive cannot work in that Startech SATA adapter.
