Okay, so this is a huge problem. Recently I've been trying to record skyrim.. I want to use dxtory and bandicam.. But with both my videos are choppy. I cap it at 60fps.. but I always see it drop to 59-54.. This should NOT be happening.. I have 2 GTX 970s and an i7-4790k @4.4GHz.. I record to an empty SSD that is ONLY used for recording..and the write speed to the drive is 301MB/sec. I have tried shadowplay and I run into a very similar problem.. and the game is on high.. not even ultra.. I feel as if I should be able to accomplish 1080p 60fps easily.. I don't know what is wrong.. Could that just be because the file is uncompressed? and when It is compressed It will be smooth? I'm not very familiar with all of this video recording/compression stuff. All I know is that I have a powerful system and its letting me down.. I am going to include links to my dxtory and bandicam settings.. and even my shadowplay ones.. Any help would be amazing.. I just wish my system wouldn't be failing me like this. It makes no sense.. Even MINECRAFT videos seem choppy.. Keep in mind that the game isn't laggy for me.. Its only when I watch the recording back.. Thats the only time its choppy. I truly don't understand this.. Also, I need to use nvida vsync.. otherwise the water gets all glitchy.. Could that be a problem? I truly do need help, I'm distressed about this.. All of these parts were purchased in order to make higher quality videos.. But this, what i'm going through.. Its very annoying, and troubling. Thank you ahead of time for anyone that helps me. :) PS. I also have my GPUs Overclocked.

recording software can eat away your CPU power which is why you get FPS drops.

HOWEVER:

Try using NVIDIA's ShadowPlay, it places all the load onto the GPU so when playing Skyrim you would maintain 60-58 FPS.

Mind you ShadowPlay uses Lossy compression whereas Dxtory and bandicam uses Lossless compression.

I do use shadowplay, Its far smoother than both dxtory and bandicam.. But It still gets really choppy at times.. In the recording, that is. Could you also explain lossy and lossless? What are the differences. Not to be annoying, I'm just not sure. :)

I see, well that seems odd that it gets a bit choppy at times.

So Lossy and Lossless are compression "methods"

Lossy = is when videos or images are compressed and if you try to resize them, they get pixelated quite easily. The benefit of Lossy is that the file size is much smaller than Lossless. But the quality of the video is quite poor.

Lossless = Is when videos or images are not compressed, what you see in your games is what you will also see when you watch your recording, there is no compression. The benefit of Lossless is that you get the best quality recording of your video but the file size is huge.

Alright, But still.. What could a reason be for teh video to seem choppy in playback? :/

Well, thank you so much for your effort! :) And having insight on codecs and such isn't a bad thing. Again, thank you! :)
