I reformatted my HDD that way I could transfer over a fresh, factory installed Win 7 onto my new SSD. However, once the drive reformatted and was getting ready to start Windows, I got this horrifying error message: http://i.imgur.com/LRpua0d.jpg

I cannot get past it as hitting OK or ESC or just waiting causes the PC to restart. I'm assuming it's because I have different parts in my PC than when I originally purchased it. Should I just buy a new copy of Windows 7 and start over by installing it into my new SSD? And if so, how do I got about doing that? Plug in the SSD and put the Win 7 disk in the tray?

If this is a fresh reinstall of Windows... then it could be a software error. Have you tried reinstalling? What I would do is boot up from the Windows DVD go to Advanced Install and DELETE your current partition then CREATE a new one. I've seen instances where old errors carried onto new installs and the only way to clear them was to delete the partition entirely before installing.

Not possible, sadly, since I lost that disk a long time ago. The HDD I reformatted is over 5 years old. I've been relying on the reformatting method where you hit one of the F buttons during boot up to reformat the HDD. I'm thinking I just need to buy a brand new copy of Windows and do a fresh install on my new SSD. This whole ordeal sucks donkey balls cause I've done reformat on this very same HDD 2-3 times before and never ran into this issue.

By chassis do you mean a sticker on the HDD or the PC case? I should also note that everything in this PC has been upgraded, including the case. The only thing I never upgraded was this very HDD I tried to reformat tonight.
