Ok so I have a really shitty pc I use only for browsing and it has a nvidia geforce 310m graphics card.

A couple days ago I accidentaly launched a really heavy game and my pc was not able ot handle it and it crashed and showed me the BSOD.

(I run windows 7 just btw )

Anyway, after I restarted I saw strange flickering colored dots all over my screen and their positions were relative, i.e. they weren't dead pixels.
I thought it was an issue with my monitor but then I connected my cable to another monitor and they were still there, then I got my friend to join my PC over teamviewer and he could see them too..

I thought it must be an issue with my display drivers so I downloaded the GeForce driver available on Nvidia's website and then I uninstalled mine. When I tried to install the one I downloaded, it showed me the error that no compatible hardware was found and now my pc is stuck running without Aero and on a really shitty resolution. It normally runs on 1920x1080

Help?

If a system restore doesn't help, try this:
1. Press "Windows + R" at the same time
2. Enter "control wuaucpl.cpl" (without speech marks) followed by enter
3. Select "Scan for Updates"
4. Install all updates including optional ones

5. Restart your PC into the normal desktop

6. Restart your PC into Safe Mode

7. Press "Windows + X" at the same time
8. Select “Command Prompt (Admin)
11. Enter "sfc /scannow" (without the speech marks) into Command Prompt followed by enter
12. Let the scan complete

Let me know how this goes.

The 310m is a laptop GPU. The latest nVidia driver is, it seems, not always fully "notebook" compatible, tho the latest 353.30 is (with mine at least). I notice that sometimes GeForce Experience will give me a popup telling me to d/l a new driver on my desktop but when then checking on the lappie, it says I'm on latest (meanwhile there is a later version on nVidia web site).

In troubleshooting laptops over the years, I have seen descriptions like yours be caused by a damaged GPU. The 310M is, to my recollection, equipped with Optimus technology and therefore, your 310M should not be active (by default) when doing something like web browsing or just on the desktop.

To check this..... right click on the desktop and select nVidia control panel. You should see 3 choices in the left panel, click on the middle one (3D Settings). Under the Global Settings Tab, the drop down should be on Auto-Select if it's Optimus equipped. On the Program Settings tab, under "1." select your web browser and under "2." it should be "Integrated Graphics".

The Nvdia control panel option used to be there but seems that after uninstalling, I dont have it anymore. it doesnt show in when i right click.

Ok guys shit seems like I fucked up..
I vaguely remembered some place where it said after the uninstall you should restart your pc and then a msg saying new hardware found shall pop up.. Well I tried restating and after my pc shut down, it won't boot up.. Like, the cpu is running and stuff but the monitor says that no signal

Whenever windows says it found new hardware and wants to install something, thing or nancy regan's "Just say No" campaign. Say no and then install the driver from your laptop vendor's web site.

If it's a store bought laptop, it should have a recovery partition .... make and model ?

Hey pk I Googled for the no signal found error and I fixed it..
Anyway, so my pc is back on.. But the driver issue still persists.. How do I install a display driver for this crappy old card
