How do I remove old/un-used programs from:
Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3d Settings > Program Settings ?????

When I want to remove an added program such as a profile I added back in the day for a game I don't have installed now - for instance a profile for Ghost Recon - I see it under: "select a program to customize" bar. I have "show only programs found on this computer" ticked on. I also got "Add", and "Restore" appears if I make changes.
BUT I CAN'T PRESS REMOVE. For some reason it's always be grayed out - with every game. Even un-installed ones. Even after uninstalling the Nvidia drivers, and/or installing new ones with clean install.

Before you suggest Nv Inspector - I have already tried that - it worked well, but when installing NEWER drivers - all the old profiles RETURNS.

Please help, I can't get rid of thos "dead" old programs.

I found some folders in roaming, and one folder in local which is related to Gforceexperience.
I tried deleting (to rec bin) those that where in roaming, but windows won't allow me (probably because nvidia driver still uses them). I can try going safe mode, delete and check, but I am afraid it will mess up my system again...

It's those driver sweeper programs that screw up the system which is why I don't use or recommend them. Manually deleting just the driver related files will only affect that part of the system and at most will force Windows to load it's default VGA driver when the system boots up.

This barely changes anything, since I tried both ways.... have you read my last message? any new ideas maybe?

Yes I did and you stated that you had used a driver sweeper program.

No.... it's not that. those files were already deleted during the guides heavy removal (see above). And check, I have both files, they are marked as created today (during the time I installed the driver).

Can it be something rooted in windows' registery? but not in a Nvidia entry?

Also why would Nv-inspector be good to remove those profiles, but only untill the next update? what makes them come back? I dunno, I think the answer lies there somewhere...

My Nv panel looks like this :-

but as I've never added a profile I've never been bothered to try and remove any but there are a few on that list that haven't been installed for ages so why they are showing up I don't know.

So....
What happens when you try to press "remove" (near the "add") button? Can you even remove them?
Seems like you have the very same problem I have, can you please try to add a program ( aka profile) to a game you play today) and see if you can remove it? because I can only add, never remove.

Dude... I am sure there is a very simple solution for this, it's a big problem, how come nvidia haven't figured this out yet...

Absolutely sod all! Like I said before, I have never added any of those and I can't remove any of them.

I wonder if it is just finding .exe's when you install the drivers as some of my old .exe's are on HDD's that are still in my PC and are where that game where once installed to even though that install of Windows was scrubbed some time ago?

BTW, don't know if it matters anything, but I am using a single SSD 256 GB drive (no hdd at all). But I see that you do not use ssd....
Anyhow, man, I am tired of this, I lost some performance score in my 3dmark ever since I made all that trail and error to fix it...

I am going to fresh install WIN7 ultimate > then upgrade to Win 8. After full format of course. atm I use Win7 64 bit upgraded from WinXP64bit.
Hopefully that will bring better performance and remove that issue for good. (somehow I doubt it will fix the issue tho lol....).

What brand are you using?
I use Crucial 4m 256 GB. As I read about it and it seemed like a good type.

Btw, do you think using Win8 (upgraded from Win 7 64 bit ultimate) will grant better performance than - Win 7 64bit home upgraded from WinXP (on an ssd it was quite a fuss to install, also win7 upgrade from xp isn't a direct upgrade)..
