So first of all this is the RAM and motherboard:

RAM: G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Intel Z170 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C16D-16GTZKW

Motherboard: ASRock AB350 Pro4

When I enable XMP the default value it automatically gives the RAM is the 3200mhz it is supposed to run at but whenever I set it anywhere above 2400 it does a "double boot" every cold start or a restart from the computer which probably means its unstable from what I understand?

I can't change any voltages or setting manually in the bios so XMP is my only option here.

Bios is updated to latest version of 4.2V and before it was on 3.3V with the same thing.

I am running at 2400mhz right now without any problems, what could be the problem? I was hoping I will be able to at least run it closer to 3000 but running 3200mhz RAM at 2400 is a joke...

Solution
when you look at the data they gave you seems having ram in A2/B2 you could achieve 2400 to 2667, I bet you have to manually tweak the numbers of voltage etc. to get it to reach 3200, which would be a true Overclocking of Ram situation. Which I have no idea how to.

I am running a Ryzen 5 1600 CPU (not overclocked)

I meant 4.2V this is the version I have, they must have removed it from the site if it is not there but I had 3.3V before and the same problem

something odd about this system is for sure, they state Ryzen CPU= 3200/OC but when you dig into the manual in the memory section (page 22 of this manual : http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Manual/AB350%20Pro4.pdf)

you get this layout how to achieve the speed. and well, I don't see 3200 speeds.
and according to this is you have more than 1 stick you will not get 3200 speeds.

That is really weird... I bought this motherboard because it was top sellers and top rated on newegg for Ryzen CPU so I thought everything will be fine. and yes I have 2 sticks of RAM in the A2 and B2 slots as advised by the manual so I just don't understand this... might just have to wait out for a new bios update right? I can see they removed 4.2V but I had the same problem on 3.3V so I am not quiet sure if the next update will solve anything

I'd say if it doesn't hold up to spec on XMP the RAM manufacturer overspecced and hoped to get away with it... Like probably 50% of the high spec ones for low price.. (high speed for low price is certainly a red flag in the RAM business)
