[SOLVED] Can't run 4k 60hz - new screen relatively modern laptops

I have this monitor:

Both laptops can reach 4k resolution. However, when I try to change the refresh rate in windows 10 it gives me only up to 30hz.
If I use 1440p I can choose 60hz. The difference in lag is very noticable.

I have an HDMI cable that says 'High Speed HDMI'.

I don't plan any gaming I just want desktop and youtube 4k. Is there any workaround so I can experience 4k more smoothly? Or am I bound to use 1440p until I get my next PC?

Looking at this the integrated graphics of the cpu only supports 4K 60Hz with display port. Not seen this before with a difference at the cpu level https://www.intel.com/content/www/u...r-4m-cache-up-to-3-50-ghz/specifications.html

But the laptop itself doesn't have a display port and it has only USB 3.0.. I can't find a display port to USB 3.0 adapter.
Is this a dead end?

It depends on the HDMI version of the LT. I can't find what version it is so depending on the version it can be limited to 30FPS @4K a display port adapter will not change the output limit. EDIT you can't use a adapter on a HDMI 1.4 port and expect it to magickly change it over to DP 1.2

The processor has HDMI 1.4 ability and is good for 30FPS @ 4K it does support DP 1.2 that would give you 60FPS @ 4K but no output for it so your out of luck.

Check out super resolution in monitor osd, apparently it upscales lower resolutions well but there may be some input lag. See what you think running this option at 1080p.

if you want 4K at 60Hz then you need cable labeled as premium high speed (usualy with ethernet) rated at 18GBs

Your laptop is only advertised to run on 4K with the laptop screen that comes with it, trying to connect it to a monitor with bigger resolution will put a lot of pressure on your hardware.

4k doing general stuff at desktop, not playing games, as intended by the OP is hardly taxing.

right, didnt notice that one, asus hides that in specs, port is indeed hdmi 1.4 which is 4k@30Hz
