[SOLVED] can't see intel uhd graphics in task manager

I have a 12600k processor and a dedicated nvidia gpu. while i can see the nvidia gpu as GPU 0 in task manager, i can't see the intel graphics in the list. (I believe it should show up as GPU 1 ?).
If it helps, i have connected my monitor to the nvidia gpu hdmi.


Is this okay or anything else i need to check ?

iGPU gets disabled automatically, if you have discrete GPU installed.
You'd have to enable iGPU in BIOS for it to be available together with discrete GPU.

Not quite, but the iGPU does have to be connected to a monitor for it to show up anywhere.
You only have to mess with the bios if you want the initial output to be the igpu.
(Have bios show up on a different monitor)

I have a single monitor setup currently. I'm okay with iGPU not showing up as long as it is the default behavior with a discrete GPU. Just wanted to confirm that.

Wonders why you would want to see the igpu in task manager if you not using it. What does it achieve?

if you want to know its working, it might show in dxdiag (I don't have an igpu so cannot be certain)


Doesn't achieve anything. I was just wondering if my cpu is okay. I had a laptop with k series processor + discrete nvidia gpu and it showed both GPU 0 & GPU 1
which made me wonder if my cpu is okay.
 
ld also just replace the gpu with the igpu on the input, but I wouldn't do that if you want to keep using the gpu, it could mess up your c

Edit 1: Found the setting for it. It iGPU is indeed disabled. Leaving it as it is for now.

Laptops and desktops don't work the same way. Laptops have a single overriding command and everything it does is controlled by that, battery savings. Pc's don't have, want or need that.

For the most part, laptops use the battery to run everything, it's their 'psu' as such. Plugging into mains recharges the battery. So when you do stuff like windows or any other 2d video, battery savings kicks in and the laptop uses the igpu. It's only after a certain load amount is applied, like with 3d apps and games, that the dgpu is automatically enabled. A laptop will flip/flop back and forth between igpu and dgpu as needed, automatically.

A pc does not do that, it's either connected to igpu or dgpu, and both run independently of each other. If your monitor is hooked input to the dgpu, it always uses the dgpu, whether the igpu is enabled or not.

Your correct but you can still use the iGPU for productivity tasks like video encoding with QuickSync or image rendering normally by selecting the GPU in the app your using. There's often few reasons to do this though when paired with an Nvidia GPU.
