Can't set monitor to 240hz

I recently purchased a Benq XL2540, I cant seem to set it a over 60hz in windows. I have tried it connected to my GTX 970 by Displayport and HDMI.
The options in windows display settings and nvidia show 240hz however when I apply the changes it keeps reverting back to 60hz. Hooe someone can help. this is on Windows 10.

you need to use nvidia control panel; change resolution.
make sure you either use the resolution under PC, (and select hz on the right) or create a custom resolution.
