Can't turn on Windows Update. A little Help?

When I try to activate Windows Update through the action center, it says that the action center can't change my Windows Update settings. Whenever I click "change settings manually", it says it can't find the file, and tells me to make sure I typed it correctly. Also, when I try to access windows update through the Start menu, nothing happens. Any answers?

See if Allow all users to install.... is enabled in Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Update\Change settings

Two tidbits I found on the web.

Try registering the following:
Click Start, select Run and type:
regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 atl.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
Press enter after each one and wait for the success message

or

When searching for available updates on the Windows Update site, you see the
0x8007043B error

This error may occur if the WUAUSERV and BITS services are not configured properly in the registry.

roblem solved!

The following info opened up my settings for AutomaticUpdate:

Using the Group Policy Editor - for Windows XP Professional

Click Start, Run and type gpedit.msc

Navigate to the following location:

=> Computer Configuration
==> Administrative Templates
===> Windows Components
====> Windows Update

In the right-pane, double-click Configure Automatic Updates and set it to Not Configured

My settings were configured to perform this at 3am, so I guess it prevented me from manually configuring AU.

Does windows update still work if you do it the old fashion way from internet explorer(windowsupdate.microsoft.com)? What operating system are you running?
