Question Can't type in the search/index box in open folders

I did a fresh install of windows 10 pro (latest version) a few weeks ago. I had all my apps and devices installed and working perfectly. But now when I try to seach in an open folder, the seach/index box just flashes and I can't enter any text. The search box in the Start menu works fine. I've tried several fixes floating around, like running the Search and Indexing troubleshooter, but I've had no success. I know this is windows 10, and that there are probably a myriad of issues causing this. But if anyone could help me out it would be great.

right click start button

choose powershell (admin)

copy/paste this command into window:

Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth

and press enter

Then type SFC /scannow

and press enter

Restart PC if SFC fixes any files as some fixes require a restart to be implemented

First command repairs the files SFC uses to clean files, and SFC fixes system files
