I have just installed win7 to my hp pavilion tower unit.
It shut down installing updates, now I can not get a video signal, all fans moving, keyboard mouse flash then go off, I have held power button to discharge whilst cable unplugged, didn't work, tried hdmi to another monitor, removed ram hdd and all non essential items,
Can't get into bios, no signal on screen, just a whirring fan and a flashing lcd when you put cd in ,
I have tried everything and f8 crescent moon button , space bar , different keyboards and mouse .. Nothing

What can I do to force the pc to come out of sleep ?

Solution
Could be a lot of things - possible suspects are power supply, RAM, motherboard, graphics card. Personally I would take out the motherboard, and attempt to start it up barebones, i.e. 1 stick of RAM, CPU, video card, power, with all other devices unhooked. If it will not boot I would systematically replace each of the components starting with video card, RAM, and then power supply (but not CPU since they almost never go bad). If none of that works your motherboard is probably at fault. If taking the motherboard out of the case is too daunting you can still do all of this with it in the case.
Found this: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1947332/wake-sleep-mode.html

he had an HP wouldn't wake

"Unplugging the power and pressing the start button for 30 seconds did the trick!
I had placed a call with HP tech support and they called me about the time you replied last. They had me do what you suggested. They also took control of my computer and made various checks and adjustments. Everything is working fine now."

It worked fine yesterday, it just installed updates shut down then won't obit up again
Power running through unit, led on rear solid.
Fans running on video card and CPU x 2 fans
Led when cd inserted flashes
Unplug usb and mouse then re insert . They flash stay on then go off
Hdd you can hear speed up when power pressed then goes idle until power button held down then shuts off !
Confusing

I have taken CMOS battery out and left it 15mins, so will try 30mins - 1hr
I also replaced the battery with a new one 🙁

Tried on 3 monitors in case was monitor , same problem
The video card has a DVI input and HDMI on video card, and is nvidia ..
I have noticed 2 screws covering a port, after unscrewing there is a VGA port which the video card I using does not , have to use a dvi to VGA adaptor ,
I have plugged into the 'covered' integrated card , still nothing

Will update in 1 hour

Thanks for your help

Nothing after CMOS battery removed 1 hour and unplugged from wall
Same problem
Fans operational
Hdd firing
LEDs on
Just idling
