Currently as my sig says... thinking i have up £100 to play with...

Radeon 9600 128mb to a X1600pro 256mb or a x800gto 256mb???

went to get it but the price was back up to £130 grrr...

would i lose a lot of performance with a 1600pro (or to scrape the barrel a x700pro), both still on offer @ £93 GBP ??

X1600 PRO will perform 80 to 90% of an X800 GTO in most things, although there are a few games that the X1600 architecture REALLY HATES (like COD2 I believe), where it performs dismally.

Then again, it has better DVD playback/encoding, and more advanced shaders for upcoming games. So it's not a horrible choice, but I'd also give the 6600 GT a serious look. It's more consistant.

given my track record with nvidia-based hardware, i am sticking with ATi until their kit starts causing me bother... then i shall build my own :lol:
