What video card is recommended for a Samsung LC49RG90SSUXEN 49" monitor
I have to buy a new pc so want to get the correct card to start with

Solution
5120 x 1440 is only fewer pixels compared to 4k and best card today (2080Ti) can't do a consistent 144fps even at modest settings in current triple A games going.

The CPU also needs to supply the frames so no less than a Intel 9700k/ Ryzen 3800x.

What they said is correct but I have to inform you that your monitor supports 120Hz and not 144Hz. Small difference.

The current GPUs can not achieve 120Hz in that resolution in all games at ultra. You might be better off waiting for next gen GPUs

Yeah, confusing. There seems to be models with either refresh rate.

Amazon uk lists both albeit is a different model number for the 144 variant which seems to conflict Samsung's uk site. I might've missed something.

Click the size name and 144Hz model is there

Yes .the older one was 144 hz and 5120x1080.
Less pixels.
I was going to try to get the up to date one to start with .
But it looks like I may have to spend more on a video card than a monitor !

Or go x3 27inch monitors .I don't know if that will be just as greedy for power ..
It is for a new racing sim rig.

I play project cars 2 on 1440p with a 1080Ti. Frame rates are around 100 and Gsync helps smooth things. Racing games aren't so demanding and don't necessarily need full 144fps to look good. 144fps at that resolution would be outstanding but long as fps is above 85fps and Freesync is doing it's job, that would be pretty good too and smooth.

Check with Samsung if this monitor is Gsync compatible with Freesync via Displayport if went an Nvidia card.
