I have a Thermaltake MK1 Chaser case, it has two 240 mm fans with LED's, the tip of the fan cable is a 3 prong, I had a new MB installed yesterday along with other CPU related hardware, basically a new PC now, the MB headers are 4 pin, guess what? The fans turn but no LED's lighting up, is this because I need that 3rd pin?

ASUS tech was not sure when I called them, if it is the problem do I need to buy a 3 pin to 4 pin adapter or 4 pin to 3 pin?

What fan profile are you using? If you are using a quite or custom profile with the fans turned down? Many boards do this with 3 pin fan by giving them less power and that reduced power may not be enough for the leds so they will be dim or appear to be off.

To enter the bios press f2 or delete when the Asus bios screen is up. When in the bios go to monitor and from there go to q fan control. In q fan control select full speed and select apply. More information on this and other bios setting can be found in section 3 of the manual.

Q fan control in BIOS has the following options:

Standard Silent Turbo Full Speed and Manual

Should I change from standard to full speed? Dont see how fan speed helps turn on LED lights

The two big fans are turning now, the two cables for them came off the motherboard when I tilted the case looking for a screw, didnt realize they had come off.

Tweeked the fans manually to 100% still no lights.

ASUS tech support said it may be that my large fans only have one cable instead of two, one for power and one for RGB, I told him my fans are LED light not RGB dont have same requirements.

The fans included on the mk1 chaser are 200mm colorshift RGB fans which is why they need to be plugged into the case controller to work right. The mobo doesn't include RGB capability that matches what the fans require, a variable voltage for speed control and variable frequency for the lighting.

I took the back of the back of the case off and found the fan controller cable, it bifurcates into two cables towards the end so you can plug in the two cables coming off the two case fans, so plugged each one in to the fan controller and restarted my pc, nothing, the fans don't even turn let alone the LED's not coming on.

I guess the fan controller needs to be plugged into the MB or the power supply, I have one cable that is not doing anything and it is coing from the area of the fan controller it is a molex that on one side has 4 male pins and the other side has 4 pin female, no idea what kind of cable that is opr what it plugs into. If I could send a photo I of it I would.

So your saying the fan controller plugs into a power supply cable? Why does my plug have two sides, one female and one male side? Do I need to use both sides? What does the power cable that fits this look like?
